Privacy Policy As you know, this is the Internet where you have no privacy. Everyone is tracking and profiling everyone. And you thought the Government was the super-snooper. Commercial interests make them pale by comparison. So, we have to write this privacy policy to let you know that we are on the up n' up. You are not tracked by this website. No cookie is sent to your computer. However, some links will take you to sites that will track your every move on the Internet. Sorry about that. Some routine information about you and your computer is collected at our website hosting service and is available to us, but we really don't have time to bother with all that statistical stuff at this point. All the information that is collected is included right along with the Guestbook entries. All websites and ISPs collect this type of data if you choose to enter it. Your name and IP address number is some of that data if your computer gives it all out. You might want to check that out (See below). We're just happy to hear from all of you and see you all talk to each other. We ain't in it for the money. And besides, we wouldn't use this data for any personal gain anyway. If you are concerned about cookie monsters we highly recommend paying a visit to the website AnalogX. There you will find CookieWall in their software library. This is a small free utility that will foil the cookie monsters in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser, all versions. This is a very nice little program. A version for Netscape is said to be in the works and coming soon. There are also many other small free nifty little utilities available as well for you nethead Goonans. If you're concerned about your privacy or you want to know how websites track you, then we highly recommend you visit Steve Gibson's website and learn you how to protect your computer and files, easily, and mostly for free. Click on the "SHIELDS UP" section of Steve Gibson's website and you will be amazed. He also has a free utility that will rid your computer of common "SPYWARE" programs. These are programs that "phone home", in the background, when you log on. Mostly without your knowledge or consent and reports your web movements, and who knows what else, thereby profiling you. He will show you how to fix these security holes in your Windows system. They are open by default! Back to the policy... any information submitted to this website or its authors will never be sold or given to anyone for commercial purposes or personal gain. Although the guest book is a public document, the information contained in it is submitted at the users risk, and we cannot be responsible for its misuse. If you prefer not to post a message in the guest book - We can't imagine why not, then you can e-mail us, the authors, directly by clicking on our names on the front page or the links on this page and some other pages - just remove the "nospam" from the email address. I have had to do this to prevent so much junk email and spam. If anyone has an objection and/or wishes to have their information removed from the guest book, feel free to e-mail us and let us know. We'll talk. Some of this information is Public Domain, available in Libraries, and free to all. We reserve the right to forward information to Goonans who may interested in, or searching for relatives. We are not responsible for any personal problems that might result in such exchanges, like an old family feud and the like. You know what we mean. This is in good faith and the goal here is to bring us all together as a Clan and share our history. If we get it together, maybe someday we'll have a pin with the Goonan name and Crest on it, like the ones you see in all the Irish gift shops for a buck or two. That would be nice. We thank you all for your submissions and guest book entries. It is great to be able to meet you all. Please be careful when entering your e-mail address so it is accurate, so you can be contacted, or better yet, send us an E-Mail (Remove the NOSPAM from the address - I am sorry to have to do this, but there is so much spam and junk email I am forced to do this). This testament was "sworn on a stack of Bibles", so help me Saint Patrick. Oh, and we will edit out any inappropriate guest book entries, so please be considerate. However, you may make a political statement if you're so inclined. Page updated 2/24/04 |
